Matthew Huchthausen has been an entertainment industry professional artist for over 24 years. He started painting props in the early 90‘s for movies like Alien nation and Stargate through his father’s special effects business.
He perfected his craft as a scenic artist by working freelance at almost every major Hollywood studio. Matthew painted sets at NBC for productions of; the Academy Awards, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as well as Days of our Lives. He did the same for a variety of shows on CBS and ABC but really wanted to paint backdrops, so went to Grosh Studio and worked for Superior Backings where he honed his backdrop painting skills. Matthew painted backdrops for bands like Papa Roach and TV shows like Malcolm in the Middle. He took the opportunity to free lance for many studios and worked at Warner Brothers on Planet of the Apes, Fox on The X-Files, Sony, Disney, Universal and a whole host of smaller shops.
Matthew has always exceeded expectations in producing scenic environments, painted backdrops, movie, television and theatre sets, including special effects props and miniatures. He attained the highest professional rank of Journeyman Scenic Artist through the Art Directors Guild, and has a reputation as a friendly person who gets along with anyone, works hard and does what it takes to beat the deadline!
